This Mauser Sporting Best action-body with thumb-recess and charger-guide, magazine-floor plate, nicely figured stock with semi-pistol rounded end grip and steel butt-plate, sling-eyes. With open-sights, sighted for 100, 300 & 400 yards, and ramp-mounted bead-foresight, the breech-end engraved John Rigby & Co, 43 Sacville St. London. Serial No: 4149. Weighing 7lb 8oz, 26″ barrel. 14 1/4″ stock length .Remaining in original condition, not having been fitted with mounts. Open sight use only.
As a testament to the condition of this rifle, we have recently commissioned Traditional English Guncases to build a bespoke full length travel case, supplied with a period correct makers label.
The maker has kindly advised us that the gun was completed on August the 1st 1902 as the National Rifle Association shooting prize, with a video clip of the entry in their records available.
